Wire-cut electrical discharge machine uses a thin brass wire as an electrode. It discharges between electrode and workpiece while sending out the wire, and advances in the xy-axis direction according to its program operation. A desired shape can be machined by cutting out a work into a free form, just like cutting with a coping saw.
